FALL KITCHARI CLEANSE! with Miguel Mendez, Natavi Orion, and Bani Shiva Kaur Monday, Nov. 11 – Friday, Nov. 15th, 2019

Autumn is here! Time of letting go, release, and preparing for the winter ahead. During changes of season, the science of health & longevity known as Ayurveda recommends a periodic reset/cleanse in order to work with these changes in the natural world and adapt the body, mind, and spirit in the best way. Doing so opens the physical and mental channels that become congested as a result of improper diet, chronic stress, and exposure to chemical pollutants in the environment, and sets us up to thrive.  Fall is an especially important time to alleviate the body from stored heat which has accumulated throughout the summer. This excess of heat contributes to dryness in the system, setting the stage for Autumn coughs, colds and allergies that lead to weakened immune systems during the Winter months. An Ayurvedic cleanse restores and rejuvenates the digestive and immune systems and purifies the mind, moving with grace into the next phase of the year.   Observing this cleanse together as a community can greatly aid in the process. Having others going through the same process at the same time builds a sense of support and encouragement that going it alone lacks.

WHY KITCHARI?   Kitchari is a traditional Ayurvedic meal consisting of mung beans, rice, and a blend of Ayurvedic herbs and spices, cooked into a porridge. This meal is a complete protein that allows your body maintain a stable blood sugar, mineral balance, and perhaps most importantly, adrenal function.  This is essential during a Fall cleanse because the keys for detoxification are gentleness, consistency and relaxation. Simply put, if the body is stressed, it will not detoxify. The best way for the body to renew is not to throw it off-balance too much or for too long, which is why a whole foods approach like the kitchari mono-diet is so impactful.  

HOW DOES IT WORK?  We begin Monday, November 11, and cleanse through the end of the day Friday, November 15th, meaning your first integration meal after the cleanse will be Saturday, November 16th. 

Daily Meal Pick-Up:  All of your meals, including support supplements, will be prepared for you and ready for pick-up beginning at 7:30AM at ANAHATA YOGA in Kingston, and can be picked up until 10am or by appointment with prior approval.

During the cleanse there will be daily kundalini yoga classes focused on digestive system and lungs from 8 – 9:30am. In addition, there will be a group and private check ins for support and questions.
