“Don’t Quit Your Daydream”

I saw this phrase posted the other day on a friend’s social media feed. She had just been selected by Goldman Sachs to participate in a special program for new entrepreneurs. After making the decision to leave behind a very successful career in prop styling and set design, she invested many long days over the course of several years in her own high-end pet product business, and the hard work had finally begun to pay off. Her belief in herself, her determination to follow her dreams, her ability to take risks, and her confidence in making major career changes reminded me of a quote I’d read earlier this month. ” When I say be creative, I don’t mean that you should all go and become great painters and great poets. I simply mean let your life be a painting, let your life be a poem.” ~ Osho

I can think of no better way to view life and the way to approach it. What colors do you see on your canvas? Are you using oils, pastels, or crayons? Rhyming or not, all of the words are there for you to piece together in any way you see fit. There’s no need to be limited by form, medium or structure, the blank canvas is ready to be colored on and colored over as often as you want. Don’t let your past define your future, and don’t let your fears keep you from following your dreams.

Alive Creative Hands

I know sometimes our dreams seem far away and often unattainable, but that’s only because we’ve made them so big. That’s not a bad thing. Dream BIG I say! The trick to not getting discouraged is to break our goals into smaller, more manageable pieces. and to work on them in chunks, as we are able. Perhaps that is just five minutes while we’re having our morning tea or coffee. Five minutes of doodling, planning, plotting, thinking, or creating a tiny bit of the big picture.

The good news is that no matter how big our visions or limited our time, we have a very powerful tool that is available to all of us. One that will guide us through the process and bring us through to completion. That tool is called commitment. Once we commit to ourselves or anything we want to achieve, we’ve made the most important step to succeeding. After that, all we need to do is to honor that commitment on a regular basis, ideally daily, even if only for five minutes. Those five minutes will add up, and before long, we WILL create what it is we envision for ourselves.

Why am I going on about this? Because I believe it’s important. It’s vital to our health and our happiness, and sometimes we, myself included, just need a little reminding, that we don’t have to give up on creating the life that we want. It’s a part of our soul, and it’s the reason we are here.

Happy Coloring!
